Helpful kids, I choose YOU!

How do you get kids to do what you want without attracting the attention of child services? You bribe the little buggers, of course.

For months our little monsters have been infatuated with Pokemon so Tracey went online to work out if there was a way of turning this obsession to our advantage. Now, thanks to the wonder of eBay, we have the ideal carrot to dangle in front of them.

Tracey made a successful bid of $30.99 for 115 little Pokemon figurines – 27c each. Since we marched them out in front of Miss7, Master5 and Miss3 we’ve seen a remarkable improvement in the kids’ general helpfulness.

Their morning duties call for breakfast to be eaten, teeth brushed, uniforms donned, shoes shod, beds to be made, hair to be brushed and bags packed. At the end of the week, if they can present five completed job cards, they can pick a Pokemon.

Dishing out 3 figurines a week, this lot should see us through to Easter. Hopefully by then they’ll be in the habit of getting themselves ready  🙂

NOTE (28th November 2012) – It’s been 18 months and I’m STILL stepping on these bloody things all through the house!! Worked but 🙂
