First, a little background.
Last week I posted a story told to me by my brother (highly recommend you read this post first: No Take Backs) in which his mother-in-law, Maxene, had a bit of an embarrassing moment at the doctors. The post was a cracker and well received, even by the star herself.
Then something wonderful happened.
A friend came for dinner who a) happened to have read the post, and b) used to work at a video rental place.
But it was when we got to the third letter in the alphabet I really got excited.
c) he had the movie in question.
Actually, I don’t know why I said excited. Can I change my last statement?
Her reaction was perfect. I’ve watched this more than a dozen times and I still giggle.
Maxine, you’re a top sport.
I’d written on the paper bag ‘just in case your copy has worn out’. What she couldn’t read was a heart, my name and a x.
What you don’t see here is the envelop, which was addressed from John Holmes.
“I don’t know a Johnny Holmes,” said Maxene confused as she removed the gift from inside.
