My Daughter Blogs Back

IMG_0097 (1)

“Dad!” my kids will often yell as they run up to me. “I’ve done something for your blog!” Then they’ll tell me how they’ve upset their mother and we’ll (quietly) have a chuckle.

They love when I write about them.

And now I’ve had a taste of what it’s like from them, because Miss11 has started a blog. Only she’s not as prolific as myself –  in one month she’s only produced one post. But it still gave me a big laugh because it was primarily about me.

The hint was in the hilarious title – My Father Is Unsympathetic.

Here’s a snippet of the best bits:

…and then I hit my head on a pole.

So I went to tell dad and all he did was laugh.

“Dad, it really hurt! I was trying to get the dog up,” I said angrily.

“What, you think you’re going to get the dog upstairs by hitting your head?” Dad said with a giggle.

I started walking off and tripped over a toy car that (Miss2 and Miss4) can fit into but landed on my feet. And Dad laughed again!

I think she’s captured my parenting technique beautifully. Can you imagine  how things might take off on her blog when she becomes a teenager and really starts to be at odds with my decisions?

So now I know what it’s like to be blogged about it. And, despite the not entirely flattering portrayal, I like it.

I might just have to go out of my way to make sure she’s got something to blog about in future. For example, I wonder if she’d like to write about cleaning the toilet?

She says not.

It really does make a difference :) Thanks.
