Grounds For Concern?

You know how sometimes good and proper friends arrive at your house with a couple of coffees from down the road to make your day?

Well, I think after this week I’ll be a little more suspicious next time this happens.

It all started with one of those PM’s on Facebook which are always guaranteed to bring a smile to my face.

Hmmm – maybe if I do that thing tonight you could make me one of your coffees? Tracey typed into her computer in the studio.

Yep, my coffees are that good.

Now I’m happy to admit that my sense of humour has a reputation of being a little bit crass. Not because I’m a pig, but rather because I say things without thinking. I’ll have several thoughts rattling around in my head and the wrong one will escape through my mouth, or I’ll think of two responses and mix them together – that sort of thing. On the bright side, though, it’s all rather funny.

Like the other day, I was at the supermarket where my mother-in-law works, being served by one of her friends while chatting to the best friend of my sister-in-law, who was being served ahead of me. It all sounds a bit incestuous but those of you from smaller, rural communities will understand.

My point is, it was the sort of grouping where you want to be on your best behaviour because sure as boots if you weren’t your wife was going to hear about it and have a few words of her own.

“Say hi to your wife,” the young lady ahead of me said as she loaded the last of her grocery bags into her trolley.

I smiled and said, “I’ll give her one for you when I get home.”

This was NOT what I meant to say.

What I meant to say was that I’ll give her a big wet one when I get home – and I think you’ll agree that’s a completely different mental image.

Unlike my wife’s PM which was fully intended to convey the promise of sexual favours.

Shortly after sending the message she received a reply.

But not from me.

Sure, my cousin messaged Tracey from Canberra. But it’s a long way to come for coffee. Might wanna resend your message to Bruce.

Yep, next time someone arrives here with coffees I’ll be paying a little more attention to see if maybe they’re a little disappointed to see me 😉

It really does make a difference. Thanks.
