Extra olive oil for your buck

Because we live central to four different major supermarkets – Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and IGA – we have no difficulty going to wherever the specials are. We also don’t have a problem with ducking into a shopping centre for a couple of good bargains.

Today Tracey and I hit Woolworths before we picked the kidlettes up from daycare because we found a couple of specials in their catalogue this week – dishwashing liquid down from $2.99 to $1.49 each ($1.50 discount or 50% off) and 4ltr Olive Oil down from $49.99 to $19.99 ($30.00 discount or 60% off).

Naturally we stocked up.

And even though we bought $111.94 worth of product, we only spent $45.94, which even came in under our $50 a week of ‘bulk buying money’ we set aside, and is a MASSIVE! $66 saving for our pantry.

Every week the local supermarkets grace our letterbox with their catalogues and make playing one off against the other so much easier  🙂  I don’t understand why anyone would stick a NO JUNK MAIL sign up on their letterbox – they’re costing themselves money.

  • I love my catalogues – and I shop around for my bargins, loyalty be damned. My parents moved to a small country town and when they are due to visit I have to save all the catalogues for them to go through.

  • Sadly, they closed all of the Woolworths stores over here (there was one in Newcastle upon Tyne for as long as I can remember), such a shame. Most of the junk mail I get through my letterbox is for takeaway/delivery food. I do however subscribe to Lidl’s newsletter via email, and they show all their up and coming bargains.
