Smashed Potatoes

Recipes we like. Not necessarily to share with the kids.
Workload vs praise – there is no better recipe.
Here’s a recipe to help give you more time for the important stuff this Australia Day.
This is the easiest, most impressive entree ever. Seriously.
We had everything we needed for this recipe in the pantry and fridge, except the shallots and fresh peas (although we’ve a few packs of frozen peas, so we could have coped quite well).
I love making this soup. Not because it’s easy, although it isn’t hard. And not because it’s quick, because it takes about an hour and a half from start to stop. The reason I love it is that my wife loves it, and I love making her happy.
The first time I made them I was really only trying to impress Tracey and I didn’t take into account my kids would devour them eagerly as well, so unfortunately I ended up eating baked beans for dinner. Is there a greater measure than this?
These are not for everyone. Judging by the reactions of the members of this family only one in seven people find the idea of eating lambs brains tenable. And even amongst us who love to eat them, I think there’s a real drop off in numbers of those who are prepared to make the dish.
“I love these!” Miss4 said while we were making them with Grandma.
“No, you don’t,” I assured her.
Not that she’ll ever know one way to the other.
The trouble with having M&M’s as a key ingredient in cooking is trying to work through the thick blur of tiny hands keen on ‘helping’.
If you’re looking for something simple but awesome to set in front of the telly or for pre-BBQ nibbles, you really can’t go past this sort of thing. It can all be prepared ahead of time (by which I mean ‘bought’) and takes only minutes to assemble.
Hummus is one of those things you buy without realizing how simple it is to make. And by simple I mean this took longer to assemble all the ingredients and processor than it did to put together.
These wonderful dippers are just as nice to nibble on by themselves. The garlic rub gives them a fantastic little zing which I love.
This is a dip Tracey and I fell in love with nearly fifteen years ago, while we were courting.
Bought dips are great but there’s nothing quite like putting together fresh ingredients to come up with something far superior to really treat your taste buds.
Master8 made these with Grandma this morning and the whole lot have already disappeared.
